Lisa grew up in Wooster and started at OSU/OARDC in 2008 as a summer worker with Dr. Scheerens and Dr. Kleinhenz. She fell in love with agricultural research. She received her master's and PhD in horticulture from the Ohio State University. Her master's research focused on quantifying and identifying plant secondary metabolites, which she then applied to enology research. Her PhD investigated hyperoxidation in white wines and ways to improve overall wine quality. She was involved with the viticulture and enology program for over 6 years at Ohio State. Following the completion of her PhD, Lisa departed Ohio State to gain industry experience in food and beverage manufacturing. As of July 1, 2025, Lisa returned to the Ohio State viticulture and enology program as a Research Scientist leading the enology extension program.
