  3. Grapevine Cold Hardiness at OSU Research Vineyard

    Last week, we had a deep freeze scare across Ohio resulting in unusual low temperatures in the single digits. Temperature dropped to 3F on December 16 in our research vineyard in Wooster. We collected canes from different varieties few days earlier (on December 13) to assess their level of cold hardiness. All tested varieties survived low temperatures of –8F or lower. We did not have any bud injury even with the most cold sensitive variety. That's good news!
